Initial Education for Alzheimer’s Caregivers
Initial Education
for
Alzheimer’s Caregivers
This Initial Education for Alzheimer’s patient Caregivers begins by offering a basic distinction relative to patient care giving. Alzheimer’s Disease Victims require a much different focus of care giving attention than do most others afflicted with an illness.
Caregivers providing service to people afflicted with Alzheimer’s Disease are, in a sense, in a class by themselves. Consider their learning curve. Like caregivers providing their services for people with other diseases, does the education of Alzheimer’s caregivers include focusing on specific routines structured to enhance the patient toward mental clarity, physical strength or even emotional stability in life? Does any type of patient nurturing provide any avenue which ultimately leads toward better all around health and an eventual reintroduction into the human mainstream? The answers are no. The mind in particular, continually digresses regardless of what is provided by the Caregiver. In one way or other Alzheimer’s Disease is fatal and as of the writing of this Website medical science has offered the reality that no amount of nurturing will enable the victim toward an eventual reintroduction. Period. (Dooms Day – of course, BUT do not lack faith in what modern science will turn up. Nor what might be brought forth out of any of the other healing considerations that history has introduced.)
While surely studying and providing for the mental and physical health of a person afflicted with Alzheimer’s, I think you’ll soon discover that if you are to make any lastingly favorable difference in their lives, your attention must become largely devoted toward enhancing the… Emotional Well Being, …of the Alzheimer patient. Moreover, you’ll quickly recognize that when you diligently set forth to accomplish that task their overall mental well being will noticeably improve, as well. You must recognize the distinction though. Unfortunately, while the mental clarity of the Victim will not become better, you’ll at least be able to preserve a good to great portion of their overall outlook on life. Or perhaps better stated, after they’ve traveled beyond the Stages of Alzheimer’s which allow them to retain an understanding of what is happening to them, their mental… well being …will not continue to decline in relation to the ongoing obliteration of their… mental clarity.
This thought process is something that is difficult for most of us to grasp. Typically, when we only from time to time have firsthand experience with someone whose mind is for all practical purposes gone, particularly if they are bed ridden or almost wholly lethargic, their entire countenance exudes that which most of us have long identified as perhaps being something akin to being even less than wholly human. Our interpretation of what we see then, places them in a box which suggests they are not happy, not at peace. However, the more time you spend with someone seemingly promulgating that historic identification, the more you are able to see through what has been such an ‘offense to your soul’ picture toward the underlying, real nature that encompasses their inner being. That holds the nature I speak of as being your target. That is the nature which when given intense, positive emotional stimulation can become and remain tranquil and at peace. In that today, a Caregiver can never nurture an Alzheimer’s Victim to wholeness as it is typically identified, that is why your focus must always remain on uplifting their Emotional Content. (Certainly, of course, not discounting the provision of their health and safety.)
